SFS-ADE division of KLA-Tencor designs and develops wafer inspection and metrology equipment for semiconductor industry. SFS specializes in unpatterned wafer surface inspection tool that provides the sensitivity and throughput required for qualification of current and next-generation semiconductor wafer substrates, as well as qualification and monitoring of process tools. Wafer Sight products are metrology systems that measure bare wafer and pattern wafer geometry (e.g. wafer thickness, shape, edge roll off, flatness, and nano-topography) with unsurpassed precision & matching.
The job focuses on the development of image and signal processing algorithms for the next generations of optical inspection and metrology systems. The position requires a proven innovative track record and solid fundamental knowledge in the related fields of algorithm development, including phase unwrapping, image segmentation, texture analysis, classification, feature extraction, statistical data analysis, signal processing, filter theory.
The responsibilities of this position covers the entire life cycle of algorithms, including modeling, proof-of-concept design, production software design and implementation, performance characterization, documentation and user support. Since algorithms can affect many aspects of the system, significant amount of time be spent on cross-function team collaboration for prototyping and testing.
The candidate needs to be a self-motivated individual with ability to work independently or in a team. Strong written and verbal communications skills are needed for extensive interactions with members of a multi-disciplinary global team.

a) The successful candidate is an independent and innovative thinker with solid fundamental knowledge and working experience in algorithm development.
b) Experience in the following areas is required: two dimensional phase unwrapping, interferometry image analysis, linear systems, filter theory, feature extraction, pattern recognition, classification, texture analysis, image segmentation.
c) Software skills required include C++, OOD/OOP, MATLAB and/or Python.
Ph.D. in EE, Optics and Physics is preferred.
Good communication skills are absolutely essential.
Doctorate (Academic) with at least 2 years of experience.
Master's Level Degree with at least 4 years of experience.
Bachelor's Level Degree with at least 5 years of experience.
