Description: The position is to study the theoretical and algorithmic aspects of computer vision problems with low dimensional structures (these include sparse vectors and low rank matrices among others), with focus on various problems in video sequence analysis. Several fundamental tasks of video data analysis are chosen as problem domains, including various labeling, clustering and classification problems such as optical flow, tracking, motion segmentation, activity recognition, and change/abnormal event detection. The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree, and he/she should have a strong background in the aforementioned areas, and in applied mathematics knowledge like large scale convex optimization and sparse representation, as well as proficiency in programming. Strong publication records in internationally recognized conferences or journals are preferred.
