Description: An outstanding and motivated PhD candidate, with a very good first Masters or honours degree in mathematics, computer science or science, is being sought to work as part of a research team on developing optimization methods in computer vision, robotic vision and machine learning. A strong background in mathematics and some programming experience is desirable for this position. Experience in optimization, computer/robotic vision and/or machine learning is also meriting. The project is supported by the Australian Research Council and involves academic partners in both Europe and the US.
The successful candidate will work in a highly intellectual and cross-disciplinary research environment within the Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS) Discipline and Australia’s lead node for the $19M ARC’s Centre of Excellence in Robotic Vision. The PhD research project will complement this world class Centre and will provide an enriching research environment with discipline experts enabling a thriving intellectual environment.
