Description: We have a vacancy for a 3-year PhD position at the Department of Computer Science in Gjøvik. Norway, at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The position is associated with the Norwegian Colour and Visual Computing Laboratory (www.colourlab.no).
The candidate will work on the project "Contrast sensitivity in the peripheral vision for colour imaging". The candidate will focus on increasing our understanding of the human visual system, which will be done by measuring the peripheral contrast sensitivity function in both luminance and chrominance. This knowledge will be used for measuring image quality in the entire field of view. Furthermore, we focus on enhancing image quality in imaging systems for improved quality for individuals.
The research could be considered from different point of view, depending on the candidate`s profile, for example:
- Fundamental contributions on contrast sensitivity measurement and understanding
- Fundamental and practical definitions of image quality
- Technical development towards the definition of new display technologies and models
