Synaptics is rapidly expanding its biometric algorithm team with an initial focus on fingerprint matching, spoof detection, multi-modal authentication and other areas such as health monitoring. We are looking for candidates with expertise in image processing. Also important are related areas such as computer vision and along with excellent programming and implementation skills. This role involves the design, testing, debugging and optimization of algorithms specifically related to image enhancement and feature extraction. In addition to improving existing approaches, there is opportunity to explore new ideas and invent new approaches to solving problems. Algorithm speed and accuracy are of paramount importance. Much of the work will be developed in Matlab and C. There will be significant interaction with other members of the team, who are also experts in the field, in the common pursuit of market-leading biometric products.
• Masters or PhD in EE with emphasis in image processing
• Fluency in developing code in C/C++ as well as Matlab
• Ability to design experiments, analyze data, and debug and optimize algorithms
• Expertise in image processing and image enhancement
• Experience in de-blurring and computational photography a plus
• Numerical methods and optimization
