Description: Applications are invited for a PhD position in machine learning, computer vision, and computer graphics.
The prospective PhD student will work with Dr. Kwang In Kim (https://people.mpi-inf.mpg.de/~kkim/) on designing new machine learning algorithms to face challenges in computer vision and graphics.
Currently, we are focusing on developing large-scale, semi-supervised, and active learning algorithms for graphics and vision applications, e.g., organizing media collections into semantically meaningful representations, and using these to allow easier search, exploration, editing, and content creation.
An applicant must have a degree in computer science, mathematics, or physics and have excellent mathematical skills. High proficiency in Matlab, C, or C++ is required. Having experienced with an MSc project in machine learning, vision, or any related areas, or exposure to some of the following areas is a plus:
- Camera Calibration
- 3D modeling
- 3D tracking
The studentship should start in September/October 2015.
