Description: Senior Environment Perception Engineer Location : Sunnyvale, CA Type : Full Time Introduction Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America, Inc. Key Tasks & Responsibilities The essential duties and responsibilities include: - Screen for state-of-the-art sensors and algorithms for environment perception, especially regarding Cameras, Lidar and Radar. Integrate sensors and test them. Contribute to the overall architecture design of in-vehicle systems - Participate in complex functional development as part of the autonomous driving effort at MBRDNA, such as fully autonomous vehicles. Supervise interns, scientific theses, and contractors - Develop robust real-time algorithms for environment perception and sensor fusion for complex functional purposes. Develop Algorithms that fuse the input from the various sensor systems for environment perception - Adapt algorithms developed by other departments in Germany for US-specific purposes. Collaborate with other teams and transfer knowledge gained on advanced technology. Integrate software into the overall system through clearly defined interfaces - Develop engineering requirements and write documentation - System Architecture/Environment Representation development Skills & Attributes The ideal candidate would need the following skills and abilities: - Proven work experience with algorithm development and software development in the field of sensors, sensor data processing, sensor fusion, localization, especially in the context of autonomous vehicles or robotics - Strong skills in the field of environment perception (Camera, RADAR, LIDAR) and Sensor Fusion of the signals of different sensors - Strong skills in Software Engineering and advanced programming skills in C/C++ and MATLAB/Simulink as well as Linux OS. Experience with real-time programming of embedded platforms and their operating systems. Experience with ADTF a plus - Ability to interact with remote locations over different time zones and to create a link between these remote locations and the Silicon Valley office. Hands-on experience with Driver Assistance Systems and vehicle prototyping - Strong skills in data analysis and networking - Independent research with record of peer-reviewed publications on environment perception and sensor fusion Education & Experience Education and Experience Preferred: - Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education and work experience - 3-5 years of relevant experience - Valid driver's license - Proven experience with environment perception, camera systems, lidar and/or radars, proven track record regarding state-of-the-art algorithms for environment perception and localization, proven experience with sensor fusion - Proven experience in Software Engineering and programming in C/C++ and MATLAB/Simulink - Proven experience in the development of real time software for embedded platforms, automotive ECUs, CAN controllers, and positioning systems a plus - Experience with measurement frameworks such as ADTF and with automotive ECU A-samples and automotive basic software frameworks (AUTOSAR) preferred - Experience in Sensor Fusion with Radars, Cameras and Lidars preferred Full Time Benefits include MBRDNA is an equal opportunity employer that offers generous benefits and compensation, work/life balance tools and several methods of recognition and rewards.
