|Title: Ph.D. in Computer Vision and Smart Lighting||Posted: August 13, 2015|
|Company/Institution: R&D Center in OSRAM and Italian Institute of Technology IIT|
|Location: Munich, Germany and Genoa, Italy|
Description: We are seeking for a passionate full-time Ph.D. student to embark on a European Project on computer vision and smart lighting – SCENEUNDERLIGHT, jointly supervised at the R&D Centers in OSRAM (Munich, DE) and at the IIT Laboratories in Genoa (IT), with the additional participation of the University of Verona (IT).
Core responsibilities imply computer vision research in photometry and 3D reconstruction, and the development of prototypes where computer vision research provides technology for new smart lighting applications. Lighting depends on the scene (office, home) and on the objects within it and understanding the scene allows improving the quality of life and greener technologies for a better world. The student will face innovative and intriguing theoretical and practical issues, while spending half of his time at OSRAM and half at IIT.
Since the SCENEUNDERLIGHT project will involve another Ph.D. student focused on action recognition and forecast, the 3-year activity will also promote collaborations with the University of Verona (IT).
Any expertise or prior knowledge in computer vision, machine learning and image processing is welcome. Prior publication at international conferences is an advantage. Ability to program in Matlab/C/C++ is desirable. Other programming languages, communication skills and team play will also be welcome.
Application Instructions: At the time of application, you must have spent at least 2 years, within the previous 3 years, outside Germany.
We provide equal opportunities to all applicants and favor diversity.
