Description: Fully funded 3.5 year PhD with enhanced stipend
A fully funded PhD Studentship in collaboration with BBC Research is available at the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing. University of Surrey, UK. The successful candidate will join a research team, led by Prof. Adrian Hilton, at the forefront of computer vision and audio-visual signal processing for media production. The PhD research programme will provide an opportunity for close collaboration with BBC Research exploring new content production technologies for future immersive entertainment and education.
PhD research will investigate computer vision methods to enable new forms of immersive and interactive entertainment content production for virtual and augmented reality experiences. Advances in wearable display technology have created demand for methods to produce video quality immersive experiences that allow the user to explore and interact with the scene. This PhD will build on over a decade of research at the University of Surrey pioneering computer vision methods for visual content production including free-viewpoint video for sports broadcast and video-realistic interactive characters for games.
