The Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) invites applications from PhD holders in the general area of computer vision. SnT is carrying out interdisciplinary research in secure, reliable and trustworthy ICT systems and services, often in collaboration with industrial, governmental or international partners. SnT is active in several international research projects funded by the EU H2020 and the European Space Agency. The Centre is currently expanding its research activities and is seeking highly motivated research associates who wish to pursue research in close cooperation with our partners. Your Role

The successful candidates will join the SIGCOM group led by Prof. Björn Ottersten. They will contribute to projects in Computer Vision (European projects, partnered projects, national projects, etc.). They will perform the following tasks:

  • Shaping research directions and producing results in one or more of the following topics:
    • Action and object recognition
    • 3D data analysis
    • Data fusion
    • Face and emotion recognition
  • Attracting funding in cooperation with industrial partners
  • Coordinating research projects and delivering outputs
  • Providing support in setting up and running experiments in the SnT Computer Vision laboratory
  • Implementing real-time solutions
  • Providing guidance to PhD and MSc students
  • Disseminating results through scientific publications
  • Organizing relevant workshops and demonstrations

Your Profile

  • A PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or a related field
  • Competitive research record in computer vision and/or image/signal processing
  • Experience with European projects (FP7/H2020)
  • Strong development skills in C++
  • Strong mathematical background
  • Documented research experience in a number of the aforementioned topics
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms
  • Commitment, team working and a critical mind
  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory
