Description: At the core of GumGum’s ad targeting technology is the ability to understand imagery. GumGum’s Image Science Team is responsible for developing cutting-edge image technologies and applying them to imagery in the wild at a large scale. We are responsible for research and development for the purpose of new product development ( as well as reactive, and highly customized, algorithmic development for current or potential clients. Our focus is all things image-related including: general object detection, logo recognition, facial recognition, image retrieval etc. Our toolbox ranges from the latest techniques in Deep Learning to traditional, tried-and-true Computer Vision methods. Our aim is to be academically informed and industrially competitive. Job Description: We are looking for an Image Scientist with practical experience and an open mind to join our Image Science team. We work in a Linux environment, using C++ and Python, utilizing a wide range of 3rd party tools. We have a laid back yet fast-paced work ethos and operate as a research team, taking our research a step beyond publication and into production. We are encouraged to author and present publications as well as put our lofty, image-related ideas into development. Responsibilities: Design, prototype and assess vision-related algorithms Optimize algorithms based on statistical requirements Optimize algorithms based on throughput requirements (on the order of millions per day) Be fluent in state-of-the-art Computer Vision and Machine Learning technologies Implement and assess methods from relevant literature Research and develop new ideas related to Computer Vision and Machine Learning Publish and present at conferences, meetups, workshops, etc. Requirements: Min BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics or Physics 3+ years experience in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Image Analysis Strong background in C++, Python and Linux Experience with 3rd party Vision/Math tools such as OpenCV, Caffe, Torch, Eigen, GSL, etc. Strong communication skills (both technical and non-technical) Pluses: Experience with CUDA Experience with Matlab and/or Octave Experience with AWS Perks: Stock options, 401k, medical/dental Unlimited vacation policy Located in hotbed of tech startups blocks from the beach!
