The Xerox Research Center Webster is seeking PhD interns and post doctoral students to perform research in the areas of Computer Vision and Machine Learning applied to Video and Mobile applications. Projects will involve acquiring data from a variety of sources, including video, images, and mobile sensors, and extracting meaningful information to provide new capabilities in a variety of domains, including transportation, healthcare, education, retail, etc.
Applicants must have a solid mathematics background with a focus on one or more of computer vision, pattern recognition, image/video processing and analysis including compression and multi-spectral applications. The applicant should also have strong skills in developing software prototypes in relevant platforms such as OpenCV and Matlab. Programming on mobile platforms (e.g. IOS or Android) is a plus. The candidate is required to be highly creative, out of the box problem-solver, capable of proposing novel solutions to problems and working to refine those solutions in a real-world context.
1) A PhD candidate in computer science, computer/electrical engineering, or other related areas.
2) Experience in research and development in advanced analysis, image/video processing, machine learning with a focus on information and content identification and extraction.
3) Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
