Title: PhD Positions in Visual ComputingPosted: May 30, 2017
Company/Institution: International Max Planck Research School for Computer Science
Location: Saarbr├╝cken, Germany

The International Max Planck Research School for Computer Science (IMPRS-CS) is a graduate program jointly run by the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems and Saarland University. All institutions are located in close proximity to each other and are part of the Saarland Informatics Campus.

The IMPRS-CS offers a PhD program upon successful completion of which students receive a Doctoral Degree in Computer Science from Saarland University. The program is open to students who hold or are about to receive a research-oriented Master's degree in Computer Science (or an equivalent degree). Successful candidates will typically have ranked at or near the top of their classes, have already engaged in research and published their results, and have highly proficient written and spoken English skills.

Admitted students receive a support contract that covers all living expenses and tuition fees. They enjoy a research-oriented education with close supervision by world-renowned scientists in a competitive, yet collaborative, environment rich in interaction with other students, post-docs, and scientists.

Visual Computing in general, and computer vision and computer graphics in particular, are a strong research focus of the Max Planck Institute for Informatics. PhD students will find various research opportunities in one of the following research groups:

1. Computer Vision
2. Multimodal Deep Learning
3. Combinatorial Image Analysis
4. Perceptual User Interfaces
5. Scalable Learning and Perception
6. Computer Graphics
7. Perception, Display, and Fabrication
8. Images and Geometry
9. High Dynamic Range Imaging
10. Human-Computer Interaction and Interactive Technologies
11. Graphics, Vision and Video
12. CPU Scheduling and Parallel Computing in Rendering

Applications are accepted all year round; the current round closes on July 15th, 2017.
