Description: About the position: The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, ME is seeking an exceptionally talented and highly motivated Computational Scientist to lead research efforts to use machine vision for mouse phenotyping. The Kumar Laboratory is a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary group of neuroscientists, engineers, statisticians, and geneticists looking to leverage recent advancement of neural network based computer vision to understand the genetic and neurobiological underpinnings of mental illnesses such as addiction, ADHD, and depression. Success in this position will lead to international recognition through publications and grant opportunities. The successful candidate will lead the development of neural network and deep learning based intelligent systems critical for health and disease diagnosis and treatment. The project involves, but is not limited to, deriving quantitative measurements and classification of mouse behavioral patterns from video data, and integration of behavioral data with genomics, electrophysiology, and genetic data. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other scientists, including geneticists, statisticians, engineers, and neurophysiologists. They will have unique opportunities to make leading contributions to the machine learning and computer vision initiative at The Jackson Laboratory, including projects and grant applications in biomedical research. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead efforts in developing and deploying machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, artificial intelligence algorithms for automated quantitative mouse behavioral phenotyping. Analyze big data (video, behavioral, genomics, neurophysiology) of mouse phenotyping and produce quantitative data amenable for downstream hypothesis driven neurogenetic studies. Leverage internal and public data that are high-volume, high-dimensional from varying sources to discover testable patterns, anomalies, relationships and trends. Work closely with other computer scientists, biostatisticians, engineers, and neuroscientists for relevant software development and data analysis Collaborate in the development of new tools and algorithms in machine learning and computer vision for disease phenotyping. Make leading contributions to the neural network based machine learning, computer vision, and artificial intelligence initiative at The Jackson Laboratory. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS PhD in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering specializing in Machine Learning and Computer Vision. PhD in other fields combined with work experience in the field of Machine Learning and Computer Vision will be considered. Bachelor
