Description: Job Description We are passionate about image processing and photography. We launched a custom camera app on the new Kindle Fire HDX tablets and are working on other new initiatives. Our applications present unique long-term opportunities for R&D in the fields of computer vision, image processing, and machine learning. We have terabytes of image data we can dive into to come up with innovative ideas and solutions. As a research scientist, you will help analyze the data, prototype features and then help the engineering team build the features into production for our millions of customers ! We are looking for passionate, hard-working, talented, and experienced Research Scientists who have outstanding research background in the computer vision and image processing areas, and have strong passion for building innovative photography applications that customers love. You will have an enormous opportunity to conduct applied research on futuristic technologies, whilst making direct impact to cutting edge products used every day, by people you know. The Role: · Conduct applied research to investigate and nurture innovative and practical algorithms solving real-world problems · Develop and own strategic plans for next-gen technologies and products · Develop and optimize high-accuracy real-time computer vision solutions for digital and mobile platforms · Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members · Create intellectual properties (patents) and publish technical papers · Interact with academic and industrial research communities for synchronizing with the trends and disseminating innovative ideas · Will work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software. · Technical evaluations of third party products Qualifications • An PhD. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Operational Research, Statistics, or in another highly quantitative field • 2+ years of hands-on experience in predictive modeling and analysis • 1+ years of experience in using SAS or Matlab or any other statistical software • Skills with Java or C++, Perl (or similar scripting language) Preferred Qualifications • Strong communication and data presentation skills • Strong Problem solving ability • Good skills with SQL and Perl or similar scripting language • Distributed programming experience is highly recommended • 3+ years post doctoral experience in computer vision and/or image processing • 3+ years of industry experience in predictive modeling and analysis • Experience with Oracle in a Linux or UNIX environment is a nice to have
