Description: The Information Processing in Medical Interventions Group at the Institute for Surgical Technology and Biomechanics, University of Bern is looking for a highly motivated PhD student with cutting edge machine learning and medical image analysis background to develop fully automatic lumbar intervertebral disc (IVD) MRI segmentation methods. This is a three-year position that is supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and is available immediately. The PhD student will be part of a team consisting of the principal investigator (PI), two post-docs, two programmers, and other PhD students. The student will have chance to supervise Master students.
Required skills/experiences include: (A) Master degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics or related fields with knowledge and experience in medical image analysis, machine learning or computer vision algorithm development and implementation; and (B) Excellent programming skills in C++ and Matlab.
